Antibacterial activity of three medicinal plants against clinically isolated multidrug resistant Enterococcus faecalis (MDRE)

Enterococci are common inhabitants of intestinal tracts of humans and animal are consider as important causes of hospital acquired infection. They are the second most common cause of nosocomial infections and the third most common cause of nosocomial bacteremia (Ike, et al., 1987). Within recent years, a great deal has been learned about the epidemiology and risk factors for nosocomial enterococcal infection, with well documented person-to-person spread of antibiotic-resistant isolates.
